A good night’s sleep can make the difference between a great next day and a miserable one, so why not give yourself the means to encourage rest and relaxation with a bedroom makeover this weekend?
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary; a peaceful haven that envelopes you with calm from the moment you step into it.
Start your bedroom makeover by giving your bedroom a top to bottom, no-holds-barred decluttering and deep cleaning. Put away, toss, donate and otherwise remove anything you don’t use, need or love, or that doesn’t soothe or relax you.
Depending on your current design. you may want to consider painting your walls. While the colour you choose is a completely personal decision, remember that if you’re looking for a soothing and relaxing ambiance, you don’t necessarily have to choose basic white, cream or beige (although they’re all safe choices for most spaces). Consider soft grey, blue-grey, lavender or lilac, mauve, light green, sky blue, sea blue or even a deep blue, which can be both bold and tranquil at the same time.
Next, keep the image of a high-end hotel room in mind if your goal is your own chic, elegant and luxurious retreat. Treat yourself to a new quilt, comforter or duvet, some fluffy new pillows, soft, 100-percent natural fiber sheets made from cotton or linen, and maybe even a thick new mattress topper to add new cushiness to your old mattress. You can’t go wrong with crisp white as your colour base; inject just a pop of colour through decorative accent pillows and a soft throw if you want.
Finally, add some sensory delights such as a bouquet of fresh flowers in a vase, a reed diffuser with a delicate lavender fragrance and some linen spray for your pillows. Sweet dreams! #TheMashTeam
